Frequently Asked Questions
Click the Tile menu bar icon, then click any app that has 2 or more windows. Tile instantly arranges all of that app's windows into a clean, even grid filling your screen.
Watch Mode automatically re-tiles an app's windows whenever you open or close a window. Toggle it per-app using the eye icon next to the app name. It's off by default and resets each time you quit Tile for safety.
macOS requires Accessibility permission for any app that moves or resizes windows. This is the same API used by Apple's Stage Manager and Mission Control, and by established apps like Magnet and Rectangle. Tile uses it only to read window positions and arrange them — nothing else.
No. Tile collects zero data. There is no analytics, no telemetry, no network access, and no tracking of any kind. Everything happens locally on your Mac. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Click the Tile menu bar icon and use the Gap slider at the bottom of the dropdown. Drag it to set your preferred spacing between tiled windows. The setting is saved locally on your Mac.
Tile works with any macOS app that has standard windows — terminals, browsers, editors, Finder, and more. It's built for terminal power users (Ghostty, iTerm, Warp, Kitty, Terminal) but works great with any multi-window workflow.
